TOUHOU - RHAPSODY OF FLOWERS

A GameJam+ submission to the "Fun for Thought" category, 

under the theme "No plant no planet" :

In the everlasting land of Gensokyo, Yukaa, the flowermaster of the four seasons, rested comfortably as the guardian of her filed of sunflowers. One day, she was wandering her field until she stumbled upon a letter hidden beneath a stone. The letter read:

“Dear Yukaa, I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. It has been quite some time since we last shared a peaceful moment together. I have heard tales of your enchanting sunflower field and your mastery over the changing seasons, and I find myself longing for your company once more.

Would you be willing to join me for a cup of tea in my humble abode? I have acquired some rare and delightful teas from distant lands, and I believe your presence would make this gathering all the more magical. Let us meet at your sunflower field during the golden hour, where the sun paints the world in warm hues, and there, we can share stories, laughter, and the simple joy of a tranquil afternoon. Please consider my invitation, dear Yukaa. I look forward to your company and the chance to catch up on life in Gensokyo.

Reading the letter warmed her heart. She decided to go the the Forest of Lost Magic to pick up a rose to bring to her as a gift. However, inside the forest, she noticed a cool breeze hit her back. A single snowflake falls on the pedal of the rose, making it freeze and disintigrate swiftly, leaving nothing but snowy shards.

Before her trip, there was something Yuuka had to do at her sunflower field…

Arrow keys – movement

Z – Attack with an umbrella

X – Shoot a bullet (when charged)

C - Interact

  Rhapsody of Flowers is a 2D Metroidvania-inspired platformer. Control Yuuka on her quest to vanquish Cirno away from her sunflower field. Fight enemies, collect seeds and chase Cirno away in this thrilling adventure.
